Arts Center - Writing Workshop

Writing Workshop

For all levels, ages 19+. Pair up with an experienced writer for guidance on the basics of creative writing, critique, and submitting work for publication. One-on-one instruction throughout the six-week period will be conducted by email and in person at the student and mentor’s mutual convenience. 

Three group meetings are required on Thursdays at 5–7 p.m.

Feb. 8 - Discuss goals and outcomes. Leave with a contract detailing work plans for the mentorship period.

Mar. 8 - Discuss the assigned book, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King, and report on progress-to-date. 

Mar. 22 - Share excerpts of work produced during the mentorship period.

Ronda Redmond earned her MFA in poetry from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1999. She has published poetry, non-fiction, and young adult fiction. She lives in St. Peter and works out of her home. She is active in the local arts community and connects to issues related to local food, environmentalism, and sustainability.
